UNHCR Promised Come See The Immigrants
Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands, Indonesia - Hundreds of immigrants from Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran rallied in the House Immigration Detention Centre Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands Province on Monday.

"Immigrants want to meet with UNHCR to question why they have not been interviewed to verify that its status is known as a refugee or not," said Sugiyo.
  
In addition, he said some immigrants who have refugee status requires clarity to the country where they will be placed.
  
"There were about 40 people of Afghanistan that has long been the status of refugees and their demands immediately placed into a third country," he said.
  
Those who are demonstrating is already inhabited by Sugiyo Rudenim Tanjungpinang from early 2010 after shipped from Lampung, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Surabaya and several other areas in Indonesia.
  
"We've coordinated with the UNHCR and they promised to come meet with immigrant protesters," said Sugiyo.
  
Demonstrations conducted since Monday morning according to him was the second time after the same thing done on Friday (19 /7).


  
Added Sugiyo, currently Rudenim Tanjungpinang immigrants accommodate as many as 291 people and 28 of them are "regular migrants" who will be repatriated to their home country after serving his sentence due to immigration violations and illegal fishing.
